Park Description
McKitrick Park surrounds the Sungod Recreation Centre. It has a running trail pathway, picnic tables, a large parking lot, and the McKitrick garden.
McKitrick Garden
McKitrick Garden is located in McKitrick Park, just south of 80th Avenue on 111th Street. It is at the extreme north corner of the park that also contains Sungod Recreation Centre. It is a charming little oasis of native and some non-native plantings ringed by several pathways. Gardeners will enjoy picking up ideas for shade loving and drought resistant plants as well as possible configurations for their own gardens. The garden features a number of recycling initiatives and is accessible by those in wheelchairs or who have mobility impairments. The garden is maintained by the Corporation of Delta.
Delta offers a series of free workshops for Delta residents in the spring and summer to learn about sustainable gardening practices including composting, vegetable gardening and natural pest control.
