Olympic Torch Received a Huge Welcome in Delta

Thousands turned out to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Delta and take part in the Light the Spirit of Delta celebrations held in all three of Delta's communities.

As a result of the hard work and generosity of the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society, over $2,000 was raised in relief funds for Haiti at their Light the Spirit of Delta pancake breakfast held in North Delta.

Olympic Torch on display at Delta Municipal Hall

An Olympic Torch is now on display at Municipal Hall - it has been temporarily mounted on the second floor above the foyer. The Torch was generously donated by Delta Olympian Joy Fera (1976 Rowing) to the Delta Sports Hall of Fame for display at Municipal Hall. Joy Fera was a torchbearer in Coquitlam on February 11th.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Olympic Women's Hockey Exhibition Game

On February 9th, Sungod Recreation Centre hosted the women's Olympic hockey teams from Finland and Slovakia in an exhibition game.
