Waterworks Rates and Regulation Bylaw

Bylaw Number: 5781

Establishes rates, conditions and terms under or upon which water may be supplied and used.

Water used as noun means water supplied directly or indirectly by Greater Vancouver Water District or The Corporation of Delta, whether or not mixed with rain water, gray water or recycled water. Water used as verb, and Watering mean the application or distribution of water (used as non) to lands or plants but does not include the mehod known as drip irrigation.

Domestic water shall mean water supplied by the Corporation for domestic, not irrigation, purposes and for the purpose of garden irrigation as defined herein.

Garden Irrigation shall mean the sprinkling or pouring of water to irrigate lawns and landscaping, domestic gardens, plant nurseries, greenhouses, or golf courses by means of any pipe, hose or sprinkling device upon or under the surface of the ground on any premises.

Sprinkle or Sprinkling shall mean the application or distribution of domestic water on lawns or boulevards by sprinkling or spraying.

Lawn sprinkling regulations are in effect each year from June 1st - September 30th. Sprinkling is only permitted at premises with even-numbered civic addresses on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 4:00am and 9:00am and between the hours of 7:00pm and 10:00pm. At premises with odd-numbered civic addresses, sprinkling is only permitted on Thursdays and Sundays between the hours of 4:00am and 9:00am and between the hours of 7:00pm and 10:00pm.

A hose may be used for providing water to wash boats or motor vehicles if the hose is equipped with an automatic shut-off device.

Automatic Shut Off Device means a device attached to a water hose that is spring loaded and shuts off the suplly of water automatically unless hand pressure is applied to allow water to flow.
