The Corporation of Delta works to prevent pollution in several ways:
Noise
- Providing technical assistance to municipal bylaw enforcement officers regarding industrial / commercial, construction, and residential noise complaints.
- Undertaking noise surveys to determine localized baseline noise levels.
- Responding to industrial and commercial related noise complaints during and after hours.
Odour
We respond to industrial and commercial related odour complaints during and after hours. If you have an odour complaint, contact Metro Vancouver's Air Quality Complaints Line at (604) 436-6777 or Delta Climate Action & Environment at (604) 946-3253.
During certain times of year, odours from agricultural activities may occur. Under the Right to Farm Act, these odours are considered part of normal farm practices. For further information on farm related odours please review the Ministry of Agricultural and Lands Publication. If you have an odour complaint, contact Delta Climate Action & Environment at (604) 946-3253.
Dust
We respond to industrial and commercial related dust complaints during and after hours. If you have a dust complaint, contact Delta Climate Action & Environment at (604) 946-3253.
Air Quality
We respond to industrial and commercial related air quality complaints during and after hours. If you have an air quality complaint, contact Metro Vancouver's Air Quality Complaints Line at (604) 436-6777 or Delta Climate Action & Environment at (604) 946-3253.
Spill Response
We respond to and follow up on spills (both chemical and oil) during and after hours. We also coordinate and/or administer the disposal of related wastes where applicable.
Contaminated Sites
We administer Site Profile forms that are submitted with development applications for Delta and work with the B.C. Ministry of Environment on site contamination assessment related matters.
Pesticide Use
We respond to pesticide application inquiries from the public. If you have a pesticide use inquiry, contact Delta Climate Action & Environment at (604) 946-3253.
Surface Water Quality Assessment
- Monitoring surface water for bacteriological and chemical quality
- Identifying polluting sources implicated during supporting monitoring program
- Responding to public inquiries regarding surface water pollution.
- Providing supporting inspection assistance of Industrial / commercial facilities in conjunction with watershed studies..
