How to Vote

DeltaVotes

There are two steps to voting in a Local Government Election. First you must make sure that you are registered, and second, go to your voting place on voting day.

You must register to vote. The Corporation of Delta uses the Provincial Voters List to determine who is eligible to vote in Delta. If you voted in the last provincial election, your name will appear on the Provincial Voters List, and will automatically be placed on the Delta Voters List.

If your name is not on the Provincial Voters List, you may register to have your name added to the Delta Voters List. You may register:

Delta Registered Voters List Information and Privacy

The Delta List of Electors is made available for public viewing and is provided to each candidate and Elector Organization participating in the election. The list contains the names of all registered voters, as well as other personal information such as the voter's residential address.

To protect your privacy you may request that your address be omitted or obscured from the list of electors. If requested to do this, the Chief Election Officer must comply with your request and the list will be amended. Please note that this request must be submitted at every election or by-election.

Go to Your Voting Place to Vote

You can vote any time between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election at the voting place set up for your neighbourhood. A map and list of voting place locations will be provided in your community newspaper, and a "Where to Vote" card mailed to all registered electors well before voting day. If voting as a Non-Resident Property Elector, you must vote at the voting place for the area in which your property is located.

If you have moved since your registration on the Delta Voters List, you must vote at the voting place for where you are living on voting day.

At the voting place your name and address will be checked against the List of Electors. If not previously registered, you will be asked to do so. Before receiving a ballot to vote, all persons must sign a declaration that they are "eligible to vote and have not voted before in this election".
