Stanley Cup on its way to Delta

July 12, 2010

Delta is proud to be the hometown of two players from the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks team - Brent Seabrook and Troy Brouwer! A native of Tsawwassen, Brent Seabrook grew up playing with the South Delta Minor Hockey Association and South Delta Minor Lacrosse. Growing up in North Delta, Troy Brouwer played with the North Delta Minor Hockey Association. With the exceptional performances by both of these players in their Stanley Cup win, comes the exciting opportunity for players to 'bring home the Cup' for a day.

On Thursday, July 15th from 1:00 to 1:15 pm, Troy Brouwer will take the Stanley Cup by motorcade leaving from the North Delta Public Safety Building, travelling west on 84th Avenue to 112th Street to Sungod Recreation Centre for a private event. A media scrum will take place in the upper conference room at Sungod Recreation Centre from 1:20 to 1:35 pm. This will be the only opportunity for the media to ask questions and take photographs.

On Friday, July 16th at 4:00 pm, Brent Seabrook will host an opportunity for the public and media to view the Cup at South Delta Recreation Centre.

Both Mr. Seabrook and Mr. Brouwer are hosting events by invitation only that include younger players from the minor sports organizations for which they played. This is an exciting opportunity for each of these professional hockey players to share their victory with the youth of these organizations. No media or public will be permitted on site during these private events.

The North Delta Public Safety Building is located at 11375 84th Avenue. Sungod Recreation Centre is located at 7815 112th Street in North Delta. The South Delta Recreation Centre is located at 1720 56th Street in Tsawwassen.
