Kick off Halloween at Family Fright Fest, a free family event between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre and other facilities in the area, on October 28th. South Delta Secondary School Equinox Theatre students will transform the McKee Heritage House into the "Bates Motel". Teacher Paige Hansen says, "The decor is inspired by Hitchcock, with every room guaranteed to send a chill down your spine". Once through the 'hotel', the Halloween tour continues at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre where the Seniors' Society will create phantasmagorical trick or treat doors. Library staff will be telling spooky stories at 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm and there will be crafts, a photo corner and more. The Kee Cafe will offer a great meal deal for $5.00. Next door, the Wintemute Boys & Girls Club will have a Mad Scientist Lab with creepy games and activities. The event is appropriate for all ages, with good signage to allow 'detours' of the scarier spectacles for the squeamish and very young. 47th Avenue Closure: Please note 47th Avenue between Arthur Drive and 51st Street will be closed from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm to ensure the safety of all participants and for street activities which will include live music, face painting, popcorn, hay rides, crafts, and more. The Ladner Business Association Halloween displays will also be available for all to enjoy. Organization of the event has included the support of Equinox Theatre, McKee Seniors Society, Ladner Business Association, Boys & Girls Club Community Services of Delta/Richmond, the Fraser Valley Regional Library and the Corporation of Delta. Community sponsors include Mike Guichon Ltd, the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen, Ladner Business Association, Kidding Around, Signal Trucking Ltd, the Delta Community Music School and the Richmond Photo Club. |
