Vancouver Landfill Fire Update

The underground fire that crews have been dealing with over the past few weeks at the Vancouver Landfill in Delta has been brought under control and is stabilized.

Through a joint effort between Delta Fire & Emergency Services, Delta Engineering, City of Vancouver Landfill staff, JJM Construction Ltd., and Landfill Fire Control Inc., a clay fire break was constructed to isolate and contain an area of 80m x 90 m where the fire was initially detected. At this time, temperature and gas concentrations will continue to be closely monitored on site to determine if any further action is required.
