Heritage Week 2011

Heritage Week 2011 will be celebrated in Delta the week of February 21 to 27.

Heritage Week is recognized annually by the Delta Heritage Advisory Commission through the presentation of the Heritage Award of Merit and the Friends of Heritage Awards.

The Delta Heritage Advisory Commission is pleased to announce that the Heritage Award of Merit is being conferred to Terrance Bremner for the restoration of the Seymour Huff Residence and Barn.

The Heritage Award of Merit plaque will be presented by Mayor Lois E. Jackson at the Seymour Huff Residence and Barn (Wellbrook Winery) located at 4626 - 88 Street on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11:00 am.

Friends of Heritage Awards are being presented to the following individuals for their commitment and contribution to Delta's heritage:

  • Wayne Oliver, founder of the Village Chronicler;
  • Kathy Bossort, former Archivist of the Delta Museum and Archives Society;
  • Robert Butler and Gordon Ellis for their leadership in organizing the 2010 Westham 100 celebration.

The Heritage Award of Merit and the Friends of Heritage Award certificates will be presented by Mayor Lois E. Jackson at a ceremony during the Regular Meeting of Council, Monday, February 21st at 7:00 pm at the Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre, 11760 - 88th Avenue, North Delta.

"Heritage is such an integral part of Delta and it is truly great to see members of our community striving to preserve and promote our heritage", said Mayor Lois E. Jackson.
