The Delta Heritage Advisory Commission (HAC) has awarded the first annual Delta Heritage Commission Scholarship to Ms. Teri Jones of North Delta Secondary School.

The photographic submission by Ms. Jones was creative, thoughtful, technically interesting and addressed the issues of Delta's heritage in an imaginative and evocative manner. The choice of Trinity Lutheran Church and the manner of its depiction as an important and historic symbol of North Delta's heritage was most impressive.
An Honourable Mention was awarded to Ms. Amy Kolinsky of Delta Secondary School for her submission of "Hidden Heritage", a well written, well researched piece based on Ms. Kolinsky's long standing family history rooted in Delta's fishing community.
The Delta Heritage Commission Scholarship is awarded annually to a student graduating from a Delta high school. The purpose of this award is to encourage students to display an interest in local or regional heritage, as demonstrated through an original piece of work. This $750 scholarship is applied to the recipient's post-secondary studies.
Mayor Lois Jackson will be presenting the award certificate to Ms. Jones and Honourable Mention to Ms. Kolinsky just prior to the Regular Meeting of Delta Council on June 9, 2008. Delta's HAC would like to congratulate Teri and Amy on a job well done and look forward to next year's submissions.
