Halloween Safety in Delta's Parks

With Halloween falling on a weekend this year, the Corporation of Delta will be taking some special measures to protect the safety of citizens and municipal facilities. In cooperation with CUPE Local 454, the Corporation will be coordinating a Halloween Patrol of parks and public areas on Friday, October 31, 2008 and Saturday, November 1, 2008. Both unionized and management staff will volunteer their time to provide extra eyes and ears in the parks. These staff will report suspicious activity to the Police for follow up.

In addition to extra people on patrol, the lights on all playing fields will be left on between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am on both Friday and Saturday nights. This is intended to deter damage that has occurred to Delta fields and park facilities in previous years.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call the Delta Police at (604) 946-4411. Emergencies should be reported to 911.
