Committees of Council

The Mayor may establish standing committees for matters the Mayor considers would be better regulated and managed by committee, and for that purpose may provide for appointment as members of a standing committee persons who are not Council members. At least one half of the members of a standing committee must be Council members.

Committee meetings are open to the public, unless the topic relates to a subject included in Section 90 of the Community Charter.

Advisory Design Panel (ADP)
The purpose of the Advisory Design Panel is to provide advice to Council on matters related to the design and construction of buildings and other development within the Municipality, as referred by Council.
Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC)
The purpose of the Agricultural Advisory Committee is to provide advice to Council on all matters relating to agriculture in Delta.
Board of Variance (BOV)
The Board of Variance is an avenue for appeal in the interpretation and the strict application of certain local government provisions and regulations in specific circumstances defined in the legislation. The Board of Variance functions separately from the local government that established it and has its own authority under the Local Government Act.
Boundary Bay Airport Committee (BBAAC)
The purpose of the Boundary Bay Airport Advisory Committee is to provide advice to Council and staff with respect to the operation and development of the Boundary Bay Airport and lands.
Community Planning Advisory Committee (CPAC)
The purpose of the Community Planning Advisory Committee is to provide advice to Council and staff on matters respecting land use, community planning or proposed bylaws and permits under Divisions 2, 7, 9 and 11 of Part 26 of the Local Government Act, and to receive public input and provide recommendations on Development Permits.
Delta Council/Delta Board of Education Liaison Committee( DCDBELC)
The purpose of the Council/Board of Education Liaison Committee is to provide a framework for cooperation between the Corporation of Delta and the Delta School District.
Dikes and Drainage Advisory Committee (DDAC)
The purpose of the Dikes and Drainage Advisory Committee is to improve the understanding of dyke, drainage and dredging issues in the community and to provide advice to Council and staff related to policy on issues of flood management, storm water management and dredging.
Downtown Ladner Waterfront Redevelopment Advisory Committee (DLWRAC)
The purpose of the Downtown Ladner Waterfront Redevelopment Advisory Committee is to provide advice to Council on the redevelopment of the Ladner waterfront, focusing on the north side of Chisholm Street between Spot on the Water Park and Delta owned properties located in the Ladner waterfront area, and including the Chisholm Street waterfront properties.
Environment Advisory Committee (EAC)
The purpose of the Environment Advisory Committee is to provide advice on climate change and environmental considerations as referred by Council.
Heritage Advisory Commission (HAC)
The purpose of the Heritage Advisory Commission is to offer advice to Council on policies and development issues relating to history, heritage, conservation and preservation.
Housing Task Force (HTF)
The mandate of the Housing Task Force was fulfilled and the committee disbanded following the April 12, 2010 Regular Meeting of Delta Council.
Hunting Regulation Advisory Committee (HRAC)
The purpose of the Hunting Regulation Advisory Committee is to provide advice and information to Council concerning the discharge of firearms and hunting within the Municipality, in relation to the Discharge of Firearms Regulation Bylaw No. 2155, 1974.
North Delta Area Plan Committee (NDAPC)
The purpose of the North Delta Area Plan Committee is to provide advice to Council on the review and update of the North Delta Area Plan.
Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission (PRCC)
The purpose of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission is to provide advice to Council and staff with respect to planning, development, use, operation and service delivery of all recreation and culture programs, civic buildings, properties, parks, open space and sport fields.
South Fraser Family Court and Youth Justice Committee (SFFCYJC)
The South Fraser Family Court and Youth Justice Committee was established to consider and examine the resources of the community for family and children's court related matters. The establishment of this committee was conducted in accordance with Section 5 of the Provincial Court Act, R.S.B.C., 1996, C 379 as amended.
Standing Committee on Finance (SCF)
The purpose of the Standing Committee on Finance is to provide advice to Council on Delta's financial affairs.
Tour de Delta (TDC)
The Tour de Delta was introduced to the cycling community in 2001 with the inaugural event attracting more than 200 cyclists from across Canada, the U.S. and New Zealand. The Board of Directors is responsible for the organization of this event, as per Council Resolution on November 7, 2000.
Traffic and Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC)
The purpose of the Traffic and Safety Advisory Committee is to establish liaison and maintain communication between the residents and businesses of Delta along with external agencies, and to provide advice to Council and staff on local traffic and safety issues.
Tsawwassen Area Plan Committee (TAC)
The purpose of the Tsawwassen Area Plan Committee is to provide advice to Council on the review and update of the Tsawwassen Area Plan.
