Traffic and Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC)

The purpose of the Traffic and Safety Advisory Committee is to establish liaison and maintain communication between the residents and businesses of Delta along with external agencies, and to provide advice to Council and staff on local traffic and safety issues.
Mandate
The Committee will, consistent with the general purpose describe above, undertake the following:
- Facilitate community input and consultation on Delta traffic safety issues.
- Advise and assist Council in developing plans to manage all aspects of a local neighbourhood traffic and safety nature within Delta.
- Make recommendations to Council on local traffic and safety issues referred to the committee by Council.
- Develop initiatives to support cycling, transit and other alternative forms of transportation in Delta.
- Provide commentary to Council on the Engineering Department Annual Roads Capital Program.
- Promote awareness and education of transportation and traffic safety isssues in Delta.
- Provide advice to Council on issues related to the committee's mandate.

Meeting Schedule
The Committee meets on the third Thursday of each month from September to June of each year, or at the call of the Chair.
Meeting dates are subject to change and should be confirmed by calling (604) 952-3175 or (604) 946-3217.

Membership
The Committee shall consist of up to five (5) members, appointed or as othewise directed by Council, who may serve without compensation, as follows:
- One (1) member of Council - Chair
- One (1) member of Engineering Department
- One (1) member of Community Planning & Development Department
- One (1) member of Police Department
- One (1) member of Fire Department
- One (1) member of Insurance Corporation of British Columbia
- One (1) member of Delta School Board
Consideration will be given to community representatives familiar with Delta traffic and safety issues.
Non-Voting Members
Non-voting members from the following departments and external agencies may be appointed by Council to provide professional opinions in an advisory capacity to the Committee.
