Dikes and Drainage Advisory Committee (DDAC)

The purpose of the Dikes and Drainage Advisory Committee is to improve the understanding of dike, drainage and dredging issues in the community and to provide advice to Council and staff related to policy on issues of flood management, storm water management and dredging.

Mandate

The Committee will, consistent with the general purpose described above, undertake the following:

  1. Provide advice to Council on aspects of the following:
    • Flood Management
    • Integrated Storm water Management Planning
    • Drainage / flood policy improvements
    • Diking issues related to repair and future improvements
    • Potential Water Level-related Climate Change impacts on the community
    • Best management Practices
    • Dike and Drainage-related Capital Budget Priorities
    • Burns Bog water level improvements and perimeter drainage issues
    • Liaise with the Standing Committee on Agriculture related to agricultural drainage and irrigation issues
  2. Liaise with the LMMA Flood Control Committee.

Meeting Schedule

The Committee meets on the second Thursday of every second month and/or at the Call of the Chair. Meeting dates are subject to change and should be confirmed by calling (604) 952-3175 or (604) 946-3217.

Membership

The Committee shall consist of seven (7) members, appointed or as otherwise directed by Council, who shall serve without compensation as follows:

This is a technical committee. The Chair will be charged with developing consensus-based recommendations for reporting back to Council.
